The Smell of Cut Wood


I'll never forget this moment in Afghanistan... The smell of freshly cut wood and sawdust. Standing next to a bright, but curtained window watching these beautiful girls carve the most incredibly intricate, gorgeous pieces of art. The sharp sound of a hammer gently hitting the chisel. Our praises were met with hidden smiles as their craft was appreciated. Tea was served and we were so grateful on many levels...
