Proofreading in Asia banned under Communist Regime

Have you ever noticed that Asian markets, Asian restaurants, Asian products (see above example) inevitably have misspelled English words or horribly translated phrases??

Or how the 2008 Beijing Olympics created an entire committee, in which their sole purpose was to rid the city of embarrassing or incorrect English translations??

How did this phenomenon occur?

Who at the Porn Coconut Company OK'd the printing, marketing and selling, millions of cans with their company name in LARGE, conspicuous print on the back??

Here are more examples of funny translations gone wrong. I took the Porn Can picture above, but the ones below were sneakily copy and pasted from divinecaroline.com. I'm not alone in my quest for funny Asian grammar moments!

oh my gosh! so funny! I have SO SO SO many pics (mainly in China) of little signs and things that either were just bad spelling or didn't make sense at all!
