Always Be a First Rate Version of Yourself

If you want to be respected by others the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by that, only by self-respect will you compel others to respect you. Fyodor Dostoevsky

My post today isn't related to this amazing quote.

But on second thought....maybe it is.

I wanted to reiterate how much I believe in living an authentic life.

Living without apologies to other people about being happy.

Making decisions you know are right for you.

Being genuine to your journey.

Judy Garland once said, “Always be a first rate version of yourself, instead of a second rate version of somebody else.”

Live by this statement.  There is no such thing as living a good day in someone else’s shoes.  The only shoes you can occupy are your own.

If you aren’t being yourself, you aren’t truly living… you’re merely existing.  And no day spent in a phony state of mere existence will ever be memorable or worthwhile.

This past weekend was the very definition of showing self-respect by living well in my own shoes.

"World, Hold On"

Open up your heart, what do you feel
Open up your heart, what do you feel is real

The big bang may be a million years away
But I can't think of a better time to say

World, hold on
Instead of messing with our future, open up inside
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky

Children of the sky
Children of the sky
Look inside, youll find a deeper love
The kind that only comes from high above

If you ever meet your inner child, don't cry
Tell them everything is gonna be alright.....
